HLWIKI (2008-2018) 

HLWIKI was an internationally-recognized, respected source of information for medical and health librarians. Its objective was to build a health sciences librarianship wiki with an international perspective, that also emphasized issues affecting medical information practices in Canada.   • Cochrane Library: Cochrane is for anyone interested in using high-quality information to make health decisions. Whether you are a clinician, patient or carer, researcher, or policy-maker, Cochrane evidence provides a powerful tool to enhance your healthcare knowledge and decision-making.
  • PubMed: Premier database containing over 30 million references to journal articles in life sciences with a focus on biomedicine. Freely available and includes MEDLINE. This link goes to the version with UBC elink.
  • MedRxiv: A free online archive and distribution server for complete but unpublished manuscripts (preprints) in the medical, clinical, and related health sciences.

  • MEDLINE (OvidSP): 1946-present. The National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) premier medical bibliographic database. Covers medicine and the life sciences with more than 26 million journal articles. Premier biomedical database with over 30 million journal articles in the life sciences. Similar to PubMed in content, this OvidSP interface facilitates structured searching and allows editing of search histories.
  • AccessMedicine: Approximately 40 e-books, including a clinical library (Harrison’s Online, CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, and more), Lange Educational Library, and a USMLE self-assessment tool and 50+ clinical cases.
  • EMBASE (Ovid): International (but European-focused) biomedical database with strengths in drug-related and rehabilitation sciences subjects.
  • Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) Database (EBSCO): 1982-present. Contains journal articles, book chapters, and theses. Includes rehabilitation science and psychosocial medicine.
  • APA PsycInfo: Psychology (historical articles from the 17th century-present). Citation database with journal articles, book chapters, books, technical reports, and citations for dissertations.
  • Evidence Based Medicine Review (EBMR) (OvidSP): Combines the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, ACP Journal Club, Health Technology Assessment, NHS Economic Evaluation Database, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Methodology Register, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials into a single fully searchable database.
