Student Representatives
Amory Strader
I’m an MLIS candidate, First Nations Curriculum Concentration at the University of British Columbia. I began exploring health sciences and medical librarianship earlier this year when I was invited to work with transcripts of an interview study exploring the intersection of intellectual freedom and medical mis/disinformation in libraries. This summer, I am at the BC Children’s Hospital (Siden Lab – Pediatric Palliative Care Research) supporting the review and update of their Pediatric Palliative Care Research Library. I am also learning the fundamentals of how librarian support of medical research works. While I’ve been here at UBC, I’ve also been invited to work in projects on decolonization/Indigenization in higher education and climate sensemaking. I am currently working as a Collections Assistant at the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.
